Basic Life Support Training programme held in AMU



Aligarh: Newly admitted MBBS students were provided with the hands-on-training in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation techniques such as manual cardiac compression, airway, breathing and defibrillation and other emergency procedures combining chest compressions with artificial ventilation to preserve the intact brain function in the 'Basic Life Support Training' programme at the Department of Anaesthesiology, JN Medical College in Aligarh Muslim University.

Headed by Prof Qazi Ehsan Ali, Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology, the training was imparted as per the new competency-based medical curriculum of the National Medical Commission.

Prof Qazi pointed out that the training method was also based on the pattern, theory and practical assessment of the 'American Heart Association'.

Prof Rakesh K Bhargava, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, spoke on the importance of CPR training.

Dr Syed Kamran Habib, Dr Manazir Athar, and Dr Aftab Hussain demonstrated the procedures to train the students.
