Aligarh: The Community College hosted its inaugural College Fest-2024, Taqreeb-e-Basti, marking a historic moment for the institution.
Held at the University Boys Polytechnic Auditorium, the event celebrated talent, creativity, and unity, bringing together students, faculty, and the local community in a vibrant display of camaraderie and innovation.
The fest provided a platform for students to exhibit their creative and organisational skills while highlighting collaboration and strengthening the spirit of unity.
A bustling food court offering diverse cuisines and student-run stalls featuring handmade crafts, accessories, and innovative projects by local entrepreneurs added a unique charm to the event.
Dr Mohd Yunus Khan, Course Coordinator for Production Technology and Fashion Design & Garment Technology, set the stage for joy, learning, and unforgettable moments. He described the event as more than just a fest, a celebration of creativity, knowledge, and collaboration.
Prof Arshad Umar, Principal of University Polytechnic and Nodal Officer of Community College, highlighted the significance of such events in fostering holistic development by encouraging teamwork, innovation, and creativity.
The Chief Guest Prof M Wasim Ali, motivated students to excel in every sphere of life. Highlighting the significance of vocational education, he spoke about the growing demand for skilled professionals in the modern job market and encouraged students to leverage the college's vocational programs.
Guest of Honour, Omar Peerzada, celebrated AMU’s rich traditions and emphasised the value of vocational training. He explained how practical skills empower students to succeed in a world driven by start-ups, AI, and innovation.
Another Guest of Honour Prof Syed Ali Nawaz Zaidi, highlighted the dual importance of cultural activities and discipline in personal and institutional growth. He noted that cultural events preserve traditions and creativity and instil essential skills such as time management and discipline.
The event’s organising team included Diwan Zeeshan Khan, Syed Faizul Hasan, Tazyin Warees, Mirza Hamdan Baig, and others. Nimra Khan proposed the vote of thanks, while Alina and Barkat conducted the proceedings.
The Taqreeb-e-Basti festivities concluded with a captivating Sufi Music Night, featuring Sufi singer Syed Faizul Hasan, who entertained the audience with his performance at the JNMC Auditorium.
