Seminar held on the democracy's role in wildlife conservation



Aligarh: A national seminar on National Wildlife Week was organized at Aligarh Muslim University. The event focused on the crucial roles of legislative, executive, judicial, and media bodies in wildlife conservation.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, expressed her pleasure in a written message, emphasizing wildlife conservation's integral link to environmental protection.

Professor Tariq Mansoor, former AMU Vice Chancellor and UP Legislative Council member, highlighted legislative bodies' critical role in promoting wildlife conservation, citing examples like Keoladeo National Park and Jim Corbett National Park.

Senior journalist Tariq Hasan received special recognition for his dedicated reporting on wildlife conservation. He stressed the growing challenges posed by deforestation and shrinking wildlife habitats.

Renowned botanist Professor Wajahat Hussain emphasized plant conservation's critical role in maintaining wildlife ecosystems.

AMU's Faculty of Life Sciences Dean, Professor Nafees Ahmad Khan, spoke on the importance of global wildlife conservation, stressing the urgent need for robust efforts to protect endangered species.

Former Principal of Engineering College, Professor Raza Ullah Khan, compared civil engineering and wildlife conservation roles in India.

Seminar Chief Organizer, Professor Jamal A Khan, highlighted spiritual and religious conservation dimensions.

Experts, including Dr Rakesh K Singh, Malini V Shankar, Arjun Dev Bharti, and Supreme Court advocate Sanjay Upadhyay, shared insights on All India Services, media, Home Department, and legal frameworks concerning wildlife protection.

The event concluded with prize distribution for the ‘Capture It’ photography contest winners.

This seminar aimed to raise awareness and promote collective action for wildlife conservation in India.
