Aligarh: Celebrating Fit India Week to create awareness among people regarding the significance of being physically fit by adopting the Week’s theme, “Fitness Ki Dose Adha Ghanta Roz”, the College of Nursing at Aligarh Muslim University organized several extra-curricular activities, including the physical events like the sac race, lemon race, thread and needle race, musical chair and tug of war for the Nursing students.
In Sac Race, Shams Nihal Nabi, Aaron and Mohd. Saif Khan won the first, second, and third prizes, while in Lemon Race, Shams Nihal Nabi, Mohd. Jamid and Mohd. Sohaib got the first, second, and third prizes respectively.
Kulsum Fatima, Farheen Khan, and Bushra won the first, second, and third prizes in the Needle and Thread Race, while Tanu and Lovey Goyal were declared first and second prize winners in the Musical Chair.
The chief guest, Prof. Naima Gulrez, Principal of Women’s College gave away the prizes to the winners at a felicitation programme. She urged all to give serious thought to physical exercise and some outdoor activities to keep fit and healthy.
Prof. Abdul Alim, Prof. Wasim Ali, Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi, Prof. Asad Ullah Khan, and Prof. Salman Khalil were the guests of honor.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof Farha Azmi, Principal of Nursing College, said that the Fit India Movement was launched in August 2019 to mark National Sports Day. In a short period, it has become a driving force for people of all age groups in India to celebrate the spirit of keeping fit and healthy. She said that it should be kept in mind that success is related to fitness.
At AMU Girls’ School, a special theme-based assembly was held to mark the 'Fit India Week' conducted by Geetika Pathak (IX-B). Amina Hasan (VII-D) delivered a speech while Divyashree Gupta (IX-E) recited a self-composed poem. Yasha Ali Khan (X-C), President of the Games Society, and Sadaf Naz (X-C), Vice President, conducted a pledge.
