Aligarh: The Paramedical College at Aligarh Muslim University organized the first national conference, Paramedcon, with the theme, ‘Emerging Trends in Allied Health Sciences in Modern Era’, reflecting innovation, knowledge-sharing and collaboration in the allied health sector.
Addressing the occasion as the chief guest, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Naima Khatoon emphasized the crucial role of allied health sciences in addressing contemporary healthcare challenges.
She remarked that the allied health sciences are vital in addressing modern healthcare challenges and the Paramedical College will help in managing the complexities of healthcare issues with advancement in education and research.
Prof Alok Kumar, Registrar of Uttar Pradesh Medical Council, assured help in the growth and development of the institution through collaborative efforts between medical councils and academic institutions in advancing allied health education.
The AMU Registrar Mohd Imran and the Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal, JN Medical College, Prof Veena Maheshwari called the event a ‘dream come true’ for the entire allied health community. They appreciated the collective efforts in making Paramedcon 2024 a historic success.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof Qazi Ehsan Ali, Organizing Chairman and Principal of Paramedical College, said that the event facilitated a vibrant exchange of ideas and practices into advancement in areas such as clinical diagnostics, rehabilitation, medical technology and healthcare management.
Dr Nida Nawaz delivered the opening remarks and welcomed the experts coming from different parts of the country. She said that the speakers who shared their expertise on cutting-edge topics in allied health included Prof Sabina Khan from HIMSR of New Delhi on ‘Good Laboratory Practices: An Overview with Recent Updates’; Prof Mehtab Ahmad of JNMC, on ‘CT Coronary Angiography and Calcium Scoring: Techniques, Patient Preparation, and Post-Processing’; Pooja Singh from Cooper Vision of Delhi on ‘New Innovations in Contact Lenses’; Hari Kumar Ragi from Dr RML Hospital of New Delhi on ‘Transforming Dialysis in the Modern Era’; Prof Musharraf Husain from HAHC Hospital, on the ‘Role of Allied Health Professionals in Laparoscopic Surgeries’; and Dr Nida Mir from AIIMS of New Delhi on ‘Early Physiotherapy Protocol in Trauma Victims: An Outcome’.
A poster and oral presentation competition was also held on this occasion showcasing cutting-edge research and innovative insights into the allied health sciences. The poster presentation session was marked with 41 entries. The winners were awarded by the principal of the College, Prof Qazi Ehsan Ali.
Ghufran Jaleel conducted the programme while Dr Mohd Arfat, Organising Secretary extended a vote of thanks.
