Aligarh: The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension at Aligarh Muslim University organized a workshop on ‘Fruit Preservation’ from March 3-11, collaborating with the Department of Horticulture and Fruit Preservation.
The resource person, Shyam Sundar, addressed the challenges faced by self-help groups and emphasized the potential of launching start-ups in the fruit preservation-based food products sector. He also provided essential guidance on small-scale business opportunities, including the production and marketing of squashes, mixed fruit jams, and pickles.
Around 60 students participated in a practical examination following the workshop and were declared successful.
Dr Shamim Akhtar, Director of CCAEE, highlighted the importance of self-help groups in promoting entrepreneurship, citing Lijjat Papad as a prime example of a small venture evolving into a major industry.
