Workshop held on ‘The Business of Social Media Marketing’

Aligarh: Experts provided the students with new skills and knowledge on how marketing on social media can bring remarkable success to businesses and create devoted brand advocates in the online workshop on ‘The Business of Social Media Marketing’ of the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University.

“Whether you are looking to increase brand awareness or drive traffic back to your website, there are plenty of ways you can use social media for your marketing needs. Today’s marketers have access to more data than ever before about their audience and how they behave online”, said the Chief Guest, Prof Vaishali Sharma, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Jagannath University of Jaipur.

She was speaking on the vast transformation that has come with the rise of social media.

Prof Vaishali discussed the role of social media in the success story of e-commerce giant, Nyka.

“Nykaa has become the buzzword across the nation after its IPO launch. This company has set an example for brand promotion through multiple channels, websites, and blog pages and by creating relevant and engaging content for its audience”, she said.

Presiding over the programme, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, pressed the need for digitally securing social media platforms.

In the welcome address, Prof Salma Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research, highlighted how social media has helped businesses grow and promote themselves, and how it has helped people find a better way to connect and communicate.

“Social media brought a revolution in business and marketing. It goes without saying that the advent of interactive technologies has transformed the communication between sellers and customers into almost a real-time phenomenon”, said Prof Jamal Ahmad Farooquie, Chairman, Department of Business Administration.

Syed Nabeel Shahid Rizvi, Director, Social Media Marketing of Grey Sell Marketing Solutions, emphasised: “Social media changed how people and companies interact in terms of customer service, product development, advertising, PR and more. It has even made it easier for brands to establish an authentic online presence that connects with customers the way they prefer”.
