Teaching and Training Course for school teachers conclude

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Gulrez called for investing in continuous professional development for quality and excellence in school teaching.

He was speaking in the valedictory session of the three-week, UGC HRDC AMU programme, ‘Online-Teaching and Training Course for Professional Development’. A total of 196 AMU school teachers were trained in the course sponsored by the Directorate of School Education.  

In the presidential remarks, Prof Gulrez said that the course successfully covered all pertinent topics—and it is hoped that the experience of this course has provided the school teachers with enhanced skills.

“AMU schools are feeder institutions to the university and it goes without saying that a good education in these schools will further improve the academic standards of AMU,” stressed Prof Asfar Ali Khan, Director, DoSE.

He apprised that funds of several crores have been allocated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor for revamping and developing school infrastructure.

Dr Faiza Abbasi, Director, UGC HRDC, AMU, pointed out: Courses organised at the behest of DoSE are a welcome addition to the existing mandate of the UGC HRDC AMU.

Prof Sajid Jamal, the Course Coordinator, informed, “Resource persons from AMU and other institutes imparted expertise to the participants in areas of communication, evaluation techniques and digital teaching-learning methods in the training course stretched over three weeks”.

Dr Saba Hasan, Vice Principal, AMU ABK High School-Girls; Zainab Arjumand Waseem, Senior Secondary School-Boys and Dr Mahtab Alam, AMU ABK High School-Girls, expressed satisfaction with the training of school teachers during the course and requested for more such programmes. 

Dr M Shakir, Course Co-Coordinator, conducted the valedictory session and extended the vote of thanks.
