Aligarh: The Department of Niswan wa Qabalat i.e. Obstetrics and Gynecology, at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College of AMU, organized a free health camp for women in observance of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
A large number of female patients and their attendants visited the camp for consultations and received valuable information about the causes of cervical cancer and ways to reduce its risk.
Inaugurating the camp, Prof Ferasat Ali Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Unani Medicine, stated that the initiative aims to raise awareness about cervical cancer, its prevention, and the importance of early detection.
Prof Badarudduja Khan, Principal of AK Tibbiya College, urged women to undergo regular screenings for cervical cancer and to remain vigilant about even minor health concerns. He also emphasized the importance of identifying pre-malignant cervical changes, which play a crucial role in preventing the onset of cervical cancer.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Prof Suboohi Mustafa, Chairperson of the department, highlighted the significance of early detection in reducing the burden of cervical cancer among women. She stressed the crucial role of public health initiatives like this camp in raising community awareness and encouraging timely medical intervention.
The camp was coordinated by Dr Fahmeeda Zeenat, along with a dedicated team of junior residents and interns. She reiterated the department’s commitment to community health and its mission to bridge gaps in women's healthcare through free and accessible services.
