The Rural Health Training Centre of Jawan and the Urban Health Training Centre, working under the Department of Community Medicine of JN Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University organized health talks at their respective centres under the guidance of the Chairman of the department, Prof Saira Mehnaz, to observe the World No-tobacco Day.

The Department of Sanskrit at Aligarh Muslim University organized a lecture on ‘Relevance of the Vedas in Modern Times’ under its special lecture series started a couple of weeks ago.

The Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon inaugurated a Children’s Park in the Medical Colony area of the university and launched a massive plantation drive by planting saplings in the park. These programmes were organized by the Department of Lands and Garden, AMU to mark World Environment Day.

Under the special lecture series, the Department of Sanskrit at Aligarh Muslim University organized two lectures to highlight the great literary traditions in India and its knowledge system which is an amalgamation of a myriad system of knowledge rooted in ancient Indian history.

Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon released the Unani Medicine Faculty Journal, ‘Unani Medicus’, which reflects the in-depth discussion of innovative approaches used in Unani medicine and carries the high–quality original research papers and reviews, both modern and classical, which pave the way for exploring and synthesizing the theories and practices.

Prof MJ Warsi, President, the Linguistic Society of India, delivered a plenary talk at a conference on “Bhartiya Languages and India as one Linguistic Area” organized by the Central Institute of India Languages in Mysuru on May 28-29.

Prof Naima Khatoon, Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, released a book titled Prosthetic Rehabilitation of Head and Neck Cancer Patients, authored and edited by Dr Pankaj Prakash Kharade from the Department of Prosthodontics.
