Lecture held on Hemato-lymphoid malignancies



Aligarh: The Department of Pathology in Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University organized a guest lecture by Prof Sumeet Gujral from the Department of Pathology of Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, who spoke on the approach to handling cancers of blood and lymphoid tissue.

Gujral discussed some important and interesting cases of pediatric hematolymphoid malignancies and their mimics and stressed the emerging role of CAR-T cell therapy in leukaemia cases.

Prof Gujral emphasized that clinical correlation is a very important aspect of diagnosing these cancers. He elaborated on the use of advanced technologies like flow cytometry and molecular techniques such as PCR and NGS in the early and correct diagnosis of various mutations seen in these malignancies.

In her presidential remarks, the Dean, the Faculty of Medicine at JN Medical College Prof Veena Maheshwari emphasized the need for early diagnosis and targeted treatment of hematolymphoid malignancies.

The Officiating Chairperson, Department of Pathology Prof Nishat Afroz welcomed and introduced the speaker. Dr Bushra Siddiqui conducted the programme.
