Aligarh: The work of Aligarh Muslim University faculty member, Professor MJ Warsi, Chairman, Department of Linguistics, has made way to one of the country’s most accepted educational boards — the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education.

Extracts from a case study of his research work, ‘Growing Influence of India’s Cultural Diversity’ has been included in the book, ‘Longman History and Civics’ a compulsory book in the ICSE board as per the latest syllabus prescribed by the Inter-State Board for Anglo India Education.

“The case study included in the revised ICSE syllabus sheds light on the increasing influence of Indian diaspora in the United States of America. It talks about the growing popularity of Indian dances and other arts in the USA and the way American colleges are adopting the functional and artistic characteristics of Indian Dance forms”, said Prof Warsi.

He added that the case study also explains how media technology improvements have made it easier for the Hindi cinema to reach common Americans.

Prof Warsi is James E McLeod Faculty Award recipient from Washington University, USA. His work in Applied Linguistics has helped develop an understanding of the efficacy of common contact in languages, culture, and identity.
