‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ observation at AMU



Aligarh: Faculty members, Prof SH Arif, Chairman, Department of Pathology, Dr Hena Ansari, Dr Ruquiya were declared winners of the 'Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav' quiz organised by the Department of Pathology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University to commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence.

Senior residents, Dr Zikki, Dr Ankita and Dr Durre Shehwar, jointly secured the second position; while postgraduate students, Dr Sangeeta, Dr Daud, Dr Rachel stood third in the competition.

Prof Arif spoke about the importance of the celebration and why is it imperative to understand the freedom struggle and to know about the ideas, achievements, actions and resolve of pre-independence and post-independence periods.  

He urged the faculty members and students to cherish the occasion with enthusiasm and to put in constructive efforts for the Nation.  

Prof Nishat Afroz distributed prizes to the winners of the quiz. Dr Ruquiya Afrose spoke on the sacrifices made by great leaders in the freedom struggle. While Dr Bushra Siddiqui conducted the program and extended the vote of thanks.

Dr Shagufta Qadri and Dr Suhailur Rehman conducted the quiz. Dr Kirti and Dr Atiya sang patriotic songs and presented posters on 75 years of Indian Independence.

A two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to freedom fighters, who lost their lives during the freedom struggle.
