Workshop on social work intervention held in AMU



Aligarh: Subject experts and faculty members gave an overview of the intervention roles of social workers, the relevance of direct social work and various intervention techniques in a workshop on ‘Social Work Intervention with Children and Juveniles’ organised by the Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University in collaboration with UDAAN Society.  

The resource person, Dr Gyanendra Mishra, Director of UDAAN Society, shared success stories of rescuing and rehabilitating trafficked children, child labour, runaway children, juvenile delinquents and children in difficult situations.

He spoke on the significance of several government-funded programmes.

Dr Gyanendra also answered the queries of students.

Prof Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairman, the Department of Social Work, apprised the participants about the work of UDAAN society for the betterment of underserved communities.

Faculty members, Dr Mohammad Tahir, Dr Qurratul Aein Ali, Dr Mohd Arif Khan, Dr Andleeb, Mohd Uzair and Dr Sameera Khanam spoke about how social work intervention with children adheres to the overarching framework of the constitutional provisions, the national and state-level laws, policies, programmes and schemes that address a variety of issues concerning children.

Dr Qurratul Aein Ali conducted the workshop and extended the vote of thanks.
