Shramdaan held to promote cleanliness and equality



Aligarh: The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education & Extension at Aligarh Muslim University, organized a Shramdaan to promote the dignity of labour and highlight the community responsibility.

The initiative, deeply rooted in India’s tradition of voluntary service, aligns with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness, social harmony, and equality.

During the programme, learners and staff actively participated in cleaning the centre premises, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in creating a better social order. Prof Mohd Tariq, Department of Economics, highlighted the significance of Shramdaan in building a harmonious and inclusive society.

Dr Shamim Akhtar, Director of the Centre, urged students and stakeholders to extend their efforts to their streets and neighbourhoods, emphasizing their role in maintaining cleanliness across the city.

The event successfully reinforced the ideals of voluntary service, equality, and religious harmony, demonstrating how small actions can contribute to nation-building and a sustainable community.
