Aligarh: A 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, Olympic size swimming pool was inaugurated at the Women's College, Aligarh Muslim University to cater sports and recreational needs of girl students and as a training facility for swimmer-athletes vying for success at national level competitions.
The pool, inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tariq Mansoor conforms to regulated dimensions that are large enough for national competitions.
Built on a University Grants Commission grant of Rs.2.73 crore pointedly for the infrastructure and pool development of the university, the swimming pool has a depth of 1.8 meters on one side and 1.2 meters on the other with a racecourse of 50 metres.
