Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University community enjoyed the beauty of dazzling blooms and stunning floral landscapes taking root in fabulous fragrances and a kaleidoscope of colours as the Gulistan-e-Syed Garden played host to the ‘Annual Chrysanthemum, Coleus and Rose Show-2024’ of the university.
The two-day Flower Show, inaugurated by the AMU Vice Chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon offered a brilliant display of horticultural mastery under seven different classes.
Prof Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Member Incharge, Department of Land and Gardens informed that among a total of 594 presentations, Class A has 56 entries of roses and Class B has on display 29 ‘best flower arrangements by women and children’.
There are 182 ‘Coleus’ presentations in Class C, 89 displays of Chrysanthemum in Class D, 11 flower presentations for the ‘King and the Queen of the Show’ in Class E, 72 ‘Korean, Quilled, Button and Any Types’ in Class F and 155 Ornamentals in Class G.
He informed that the participants of the show include Vice Chancellor Lodge, Pro Vice-Chancellor Lodge, Registrar Lodge, Gulistan-e-Syed, Guest Houses No. 1, 2 and 3, Kennedy Hall, ZH College of Engineering and Technology, SS Hall (South), SS Hall Mosque, VG Nursery, Botanical Garden, Al-Barkaat Public School, Viqar Hospital, etc.
Dean Faculty of Medicine, Principal and CMS Prof Veena Maheshari, Dean Faculty of Life Science, Prof Nafees Ahmad Khan, MIC Property, Prof Shakeel Ahmad, MIC Electricity Prof Salman Hameed, University Librarian, Prof Nishat Fatima and EC Members Prof Moinuddin, Dr Murad Ahmad Khan and Prof Wazahat Husain were also present on the occasion.
