Aligarh: Dentists updated their knowledge and skills for high standards of patient care in the National Continuing Dental Education programme, ‘Mouth is the Mirror of the Body’ on October 11 at the Department of Oral and Dental Pathology and Microbiology/Oral Medicine and Dental Radiology, ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University.
The Guest Speaker, Dr Rajendragouda Patil, Head, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Kothiwal Dental College and Hospital, Moradabad, explained how hypersensitivity, infection, hormones, stress, and lack of vitamins intake trigger problems in the mouth.
He further described how many diseases show their first signs in the mouth.
Presiding over the programme, Prof Rakesh Bhargava, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, emphasised: “The oral cavity is the site of much infectious and inflammatory disease associated with systemic diseases and that the oral-systemic disease connection has become a rapidly advancing area of research”.
Prof RK Tiwari, Principal, ZADC, discussed how periodontal diseases are associated with a number of health conditions, including heart disease and diabetes.
“I am sure that the experience of this CDE programme has updated the clinical knowledge of over 100 dental practitioners participating in the programme”, said Prof PradhumanVerma, Chairman, the Department of Oral and Dental Pathology and Microbiology/Oral Medicine and Dental Radiology.
Dr Md Asadullah delivered the welcome address and Dr Anshul Aggarwal extended the vote of thanks.
