Aligarh: The Department of Physical Education at Aligarh Muslim University successfully concluded its comprehensive 12-week Aerobic Training Workshop, aimed at imparting effective strategies for obesity management.
The valedictory session was graced by the Chief Guest Prof. Abdul Qayyum Khan, Chairperson of the Department of Orthopaedics Surgery, JNMC at AMU, and the Guest of Honor Prof. Fazal Ur Rehman, Chairperson of the Department of Anatomy at JNMC.
The Director of the Workshop Prof. S. Tariq Murtaza, Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education; Organizing Secretary Dr. Mohd Arshad Bari; and the Joint Organizing Secretary Dr. Mohammad Saad Ahmad Khan, Department of Ilaj Bit Tadbeer played instrumental roles in ensuring the success of the programme.
Running from October 5 to December 28, 2023, the workshop featured an intensive schedule with two aerobic training sessions per day. The participants were also treated to Sauna Bath and Steam Bath sessions, arranged according to the prescribed protocol. Lipid profile and gait kinematics tests were conducted pre and post-workshop. The holistic approach aimed at providing comprehensive insights into obesity management strategies, emphasizing the significance of regular exercise and complementary wellness practices.
A total of 77 participants registered for the workshop, showcasing a collective commitment to combating obesity and fostering a healthier lifestyle.
The instructors, including Arish Azhar, Shivani Singh, and Junaid Ahmad Parrey, demonstrated commendable dedication and perseverance throughout the 12-week program. Dr. Syed Khurram Nisar proposed a vote of thanks.
The success of the workshop not only underscores the significance of comprehensive approaches to obesity management but also highlights the collaborative efforts of the academic and medical community in fostering a culture of health and wellness.
