Aligarh: The Department of Social Work at Aligarh Muslim University recently concluded its one-week Rural Winter Camp in Sumera Dariyapur village in Gabhana. This year's camp focused on Social mobilization with themes centered on environmental protection, Cancer Awareness, and voters’ Education.
A notable activity was a rally joined by village students and locals, emphasizing the importance of electoral participation. Additionally, students performed skits on electoral and cancer awareness.
The event concluded with the presence of Chief Guest Heeralal Saini, SDM Gabhana, and was presided over by Prof. Mehmood S. Khan, Former Chairperson, the Department of Psychology at AMU. The Guests of Honour included Prof. BB Singh, Safdar Hashim, and Prof. Naseem Ahmad Khan, Chairperson at the Department of Social Work.
Saini commended the efforts of the students in raising awareness on various themes. Prof. Mehmood S. Khan and Prof. BB Singh congratulated the students and faculty for their dedication to community outreach.
Prof. Naseem Ahmad Khan highlighted the significance of the camp in shaping community welfare and welcomed the delegates. Students presented summaries of their group activities, covering various aspects, such as networking, community profiling, health camps, and awareness workshops.
Prizes were distributed to winners of a poster-making competition, and certificates were awarded to research scholars and MSW students for their contributions to the camp. Dr. Mohammad Tahir extended gratitude to all delegates, villagers, and Pradhan of Gram Panchayat for their support.
The program was compared by Dr. Mohd Arif Khan, with Dr. Qurratul Aein Ali, Dr. Shyna Saif, Dr. Andleeb, Dr. Mohd Uzair, and Dr. Sameera Khanam.
The Rural Winter Camp not only served as a platform for student learning but also as a catalyst for community empowerment and awareness.
