Hand Hygiene Day observed in AMU

Aligarh: The American Society of Microbiology, Student Chapter at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University observed the Global Hand Hygiene Day with an engaging event aimed at promoting awareness about the importance of hand hygiene in healthcare settings.

Addressing the occasion, Prof Habib Raza, officiating Dean, the Faculty of Medicine, highlighted the impact of hand hygiene in surgical and medical fields and stressed how proper hand-hygiene practices are essential for improving overall healthcare outcomes.

Prof Haris M Khan, President, the Healthcare Infection Society of India, Aligarh Chapter, underscored the impact of hand hygiene and its benefits in healthcare.

Prof Tamkin Khan, Vice President, HISI Aligarh Chapter, emphasized the significance of hand hygiene in rather neglected situations.

Earlier, Prof Nazish Fatima, Chairperson, the Department of Microbiology welcomed the guests and participants and emphasized adopting hand hygiene practices as a habit.

The students of the 2023 batch MBBS presented a street play highlighting the hand washing techniques and the consequences of neglecting hand hygiene.

An interactive treasure hunt event involving 13 teams was also organized, which focused on various aspects of hand hygiene. The Team Alpha, consisting of Kamil Yousuf, Anas Khan, Mohd Ammar and Mohd Rashid Raza won the contest.
