Aligarh: Under the special lecture series, the Department of Sanskrit at Aligarh Muslim University organized two lectures to highlight the great literary traditions in India and its knowledge system which is an amalgamation of a myriad system of knowledge rooted in ancient Indian history.
Prof Jayprakash Narayan from the Department of Sanskrit of Jamia Millia Islamia delivered a talk on 'Kavyalakshana-Mimansa in Bharata's Natyashastra' and discussed 36 types of Kavyalakshanas and their role in the conception of figures of speeches.
In another lecture, Prof Rajeshwar Prasad Mishra, Dean, Faculty of Arts at Kurukshetra University spoke on 'Ancient Indian Knowledge Systems'. He held that the materialistic knowledge without spirituality is destructive and it is the knowledge, which along with spirituality, paves the way for the all-round development of the entire mankind.
He highlighted the core value of ancient Indian knowledge systems with special reference to various branches of knowledge, including medicine, surgery, mathematics, astronomy, astrology, ecology, economics, politics, architecture, music, vimana shastra, agricultural science, Physics, etc.
Prof Himanshu Shekhar Acharya, Chairman, Department of Sanskrit welcomed and introduced the distinguished speakers and highlighted the infinite potential that each human being possesses. He said that by recognizing these potentials and through constant perseverance, one can achieve the highest goals in life.
