Aligarh: The doctors, faculty members and senior and junior residents at the Rural Health Training Centre of Jawan, run under the Department of Community Medicine at Aligarh Muslim University organized an awareness programme to observe the Global Handwashing Day, highlighting the theme of the year, “Clean hands are within reach”. Prof. Saira Mehnaz, Chairperson of the department supervised the programme.
While stressing the importance of hand washing, Dr Tabassum Nawab, Medical Officer at RHTC, highlighted how it affects our health and how one can maintain hand hygiene throughout the day. Dr Shivangi Kumari talked about the importance of the day and discussed the reasons necessitating the washing of hands, especially for medical personnel.
Dr. Ajitha A demonstrated the steps of hand washing, while Dr. Mohd. Bilal talked about the benefits of hand washing. Piyush Gautam, an Intern, spoke about the relevance of the theme of the day. Interns participated in poster and chart-making events highlighting various aspects of Global Handwashing Day and its benefits.
Dr N Harapriya, Dr Jabir NK, Dr Chandan Kumar Tiwari, Dr Chelsea, Dr Shafi Warisha Javed and Dr Afeefa Shakaib participated in the interactive session with the local people and responded to their queries.
