Teachers honored with Distinguished Ophthalmic award



Aligarh: Prof Adeeb Alam Khan and Prof Abdul Waris, Department of Ophthalmology in JN Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University have been honored with the Distinguished Ophthalmic Teachers of India award, in recognition of their long teaching experience and contributions in the field of medical education.

The award was given to them during the 7th National Assembly of Forum of Ophthalmic Teachers of India, held at RP Center for Ophthalmic Sciences in AIIMS New Delhi.

Prof Adeeb Alam also delivered a talk on “Diabetes Mellitus Type II”, a risk factor for the development of primary open-angle glaucoma, at the assembly.

In his lecture, Prof Alam emphasized the need to include glaucoma in diabetic population screening programmes for its early detection and treatment, thereby reducing the burden of irreversible blindness.
