AMU Sportspersons achieve success in Interzone Tournaments



Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University is basking in the glory of its sports achievers who have displayed exceptional skill and dedication, securing commendable positions in various Interzone tournaments.

The Women's Badminton team, comprised of four talented players, clinched the IV Place in the North Zone Intervarsity at Maharishi Markandeshwar University in Ambala, from November 23-27. This performance qualifies them for the upcoming All India Intervarsity at SRM, Chennai, and the prestigious Khelo India University Games.

In the Men's Football team, consisting of 22 players, their prowess shone as they secured the II Place in the Central Zone Intervarsity Football Tournament at IIMT University, Meerut, from December 26-31. Their triumph earns them a spot in the All India Intervarsity Football Tournament at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University in Punjab.

In Taekwondo (Women) Individual, Anjali Raj showcased her excellence in Taekwondo (Poomsae), securing 5th Place in the North East Zone Taekwondo competition at LPU Jalandhar from December 26-28. This feat qualifies her for the All India Intervarsity at Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala University in Rajasthan.

AMU appreciated the performance of the teams. Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Vice-Chancellor AMU, Prof. S Amjad Ali Rizvi, Secretary University Games Committee, and Dr. Jameel Ahmad, President Gymkhana Club personally congratulate the achievers, highlighting the role played by Coach Badminton Khusrow, Coach Football Tufailur Rahman, and the University Games Committee in nurturing these talents.

This achievement showcases the prowess of AMU's teams.
