Aligarh: The Department of Mass Communication, Aligarh Muslim University invited script writer Jawed Danish and cinematographer Shakil Ansari to deliver lectures on filmmaking. Danish discussed the intricacies of scriptwriting and shared his experiences in the industry, whereas Ansari explained the technicalities involved in cinematography.
Danish explained his journey into script writing and discussed possible challenges that an aspiring writer goes through. Citing examples of films directed by several Indian and foreign directors, he explained how plot, character, and ambience in a film are developed.
Ansari explained about camera shots, the placement and movement of the camera, and the right and left analysis employed in shooting a scene. He also discussed how indoor and outdoor locations influence cinematography.
The programme was organized in the Frank and Debbie Auditorium of the Department, which left no empty seats. The students asked multiple questions to the resource persons during the lectures.
The programme was attended by the chairperson of the department, Prof. Pitabas Pradhan, and other faculty members, including Prof. Shafey Kidwai, Prof. Afrina Rizvi, Dr GK Sahu, Dr Huma Parween, and Mohammad Anas. Prof. Kidwai presented the vote of thanks while concluding the programme.
