Aligarh scholar receives National Geospatial Faculty Fellow Award

Aligarh: Dr Haris Hasan Khan, Chairperson, Interdisciplinary Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Applications at Aligarh Muslim University received the National Geospatial Faculty Fellow Award at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay during the National Geospatial Awards 2024 and Open GIS Day celebrations.

He received the award from Prof Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay.

The National Geospatial Award, an initiative of the FOSSEE (GIS) project at IIT Bombay, is given under the aegis of the National Mission on Education through ICT of the Indian Ministry of Education.

Dr Haris has been selected for his contributions to geospatial sciences, especially to promote open-source geospatial software like SAGA, QGIS, SNAP, ODM, etc, and online geospatial datasets to address concerns about water resources.
