World Mental Health Day, Global Hand Washing Day observed



Aligarh: The Rural Health Training Centre at Jawan, working under the management of the Department of Community Medicine in JN Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University, organized an awareness programme on mental well-being, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, to mark the World Mental Health Day.

The event aimed to create awareness about mental health among community members. Dr Jitendra Kumar delivered a lecture discussing various aspects of mental health, the stigma surrounding mental illness and the importance of seeking help.

Departments of Psychiatry and Community Medicine faculty also shared their expertise, providing valuable perspectives on mental health issues prevalent in the community. Their contributions highlighted the need for collaborative efforts in promoting mental wellness and reducing stigma.

Prof Uzma Eram, Dr Shivangi Kumari, Dr Shubham and a team of medical and social work students facilitated interactive sessions for local people. She discussed various issues and challenges that pose a threat to their mental well-being.

Dr Shailja, a Senior Resident urged all to prioritize mental health and support each other in fostering community values and psychological well-being. Free medicines were also distributed among more than 60 camp patients.

Meanwhile, a community outreach programme to mark the Global Hand Washing Day was also organized at the RHTC under the guidance of Prof Saira Mehnaz, Chairperson, Department of Community Medicine.

Dr Shivangi Kumari and Dr Nishu Malik demonstrated the six steps of Hand washing, while Rishabh Giri Goswami presented a health talk, emphasizing the importance of hand washing.
