Aligarh: Prof TN Satheesan has been appointed Chairman of the Department of Modern Indian Languages at Aligarh Muslim University for a period from March 2, 2024, to May 29, 2026.
Prof Satheesan joined the Aligarh Muslim University as a lecturer of Malayalam in 1988 and became a professor in 2006. He has served as the chairman of the Department of Modern Indian Languages twice before and worked as the Director at AMU Malappuram Centre in Kerala in 2016 and a Member of the Asan Prize Committee in Chennai.
He has earlier contributed as an expert in the survey team led by the Department of Linguistics at AMU on the Korku language spoken in the Harda District of Madhya Pradesh.
He has published seven books and more than 15 research articles in journals of national and international repute, including Sahityalokam, Bhashaposhini, Malayalam Vimarsam, Vijnanakairali, etc.
He has served as a member of various organizations and committees, including the Linguistic Society of India, Indian Society of Buddhist Studies, Indian History Congress, etc.
