Oath Taking Ceremony held at College of Nursing

Aligarh: The College of Nursing at Aligarh Muslim University organized the Lamp Lighting and Oath-Taking Ceremony for its B.Sc. Nursing students at the JNMC Auditorium.

The Ceremony, a revered tradition paying homage to Florence Nightingale, serves as a significant milestone in every nurse's journey. It formally acknowledges the entry of students into the esteemed Nursing Profession.

The auspicious lighting of the lamp by guests and dignitaries inaugurated the event. Prof. Farha Azmi, Principal, College of Nursing, AMU, extended welcome and introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Alok Kumar, Secretary, UPSMF, along with other distinguished guests including Salabh Mathur, IG, Aligarh Range, Mohammad Imran, Registrar of AMU, and Prof. Dr. Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Principal & CMS at JNMC in AMU.

Dr. Alok Kumar, speaking virtually, stressed the evolving demands on healthcare workers and encouraged the students to infuse positivity and enthusiasm into their nursing practice.

Guest of Honour, Salabh Mathur praised the students, emphasizing the essence of caring and nurturing in nursing. Mohammad Imran underscored the importance of commitment and duty in nursing, while Prof. Dr. Veena Maheshwari elucidated the significance of compassion and communication in the profession.

Prof. Azmi, presented the annual report, highlighting the progress and achievements of the College of Nursing, assuring parents of the students regarding their wards' secure future in the nursing profession. Subsequently, the Florence Nightingale oath was administered to the students, urging them to practice their profession faithfully and confidently.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Pamela S Joseph, Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing, underscored the symbolic significance of passing the light to the nursing students. The act of lighting lamps by the teaching faculty represented the transmission of knowledge and the entrustment of responsibility.

Dignitaries were honoured during the program, and Safeena Beevi SS conveyed a vote of thanks, marking the conclusion of the event.
