Aligarh: Dr Manazir Athar, Department of Anaesthesiology of JN Medical College at Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture on "Local Anaesthetic Resistance" at a national conference, ISA-YUVACON 2024.
The conference was organized by the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists at Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun.
Dr Athar discussed the complexities and controversies surrounding patients who do not respond to local anaesthesia and emphasized the diagnostic challenges in identifying true resistance to local anaesthetics, which, if unrecognized, can lead to significant complications during medical procedures.
Drawing from evidence-based literature, he explored the role of genetic and environmental factors in the development of this resistance, highlighting its increasing relevance in the field of anaesthesiology.
