Climate change is the greatest threat modern humans have ever faced. It is not only threatening the lives and livelihoods of people but also endangering a sustainable future. With this Climate Summit, the youth of YPC aims to bridge the gap between students, policymakers, corporates, and civil society to help solve the climate change crisis.
The summit promises speeches and panel discussions by some of the top industry leaders in the space of sustainability and climate action. Jayant Sinha, Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance and Member of Parliament will be the chief guest at the summit. He will be speaking about the Bharat Net Zero Bill, which was recently submitted to Parliament, as well as the Green Frontier. Additionally, Dr. Rajeswara Rao will be discussing the role that youth play in policymaking and combating climate change.
The summit will also feature a panel discussion on the topic “Climate and Sustainability Awareness” between Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, Mridula Ramesh, Author of “The Climate Solution”, Shalabh Tandon, Regional Head of Operations and Climate Business, International Finance Corporation, and GV Ravishankar, Managing Director at Sequoia Capital India.
Our world is undergoing widespread change and the emergence of numerous social and cultural issues has led to the largest overhaul of policy. Unfortunately, youth perspectives have been overlooked when addressing the pressing issues the global community faces today. YPC strives to change this.
Anant Singhal, Summit Chair and Co-Founder, Youth Policy Collective, says, “While policymaking affects everyone, not everyone has a say in it. Youth movements have taken the world by storm, but youth still don't have a voice in the places where it matters. Giving young people a place in decision-making builds a broader base of citizen involvement and creates stronger, more inclusive communities. We hope the YPC Climate Summit will lay the foundation for more robust discourse between youth and policymakers around the most pressing issues of our time and how to solve them.”
The YPC Climate Summit will bring to the fore a crucial dialogue around climate change and sustainability. The event is taking place on 2nd October from 5:00 pm-7:30 pm.
